Rock On! The cast of street sing is in rehearsal ahead of its tour at Huntington’s Calderwood Pavilion at Boston’s BCA and by the looks of it, the audience is ready for a night of headbangers and punches. Check out photos of the casting preparations at New 42nd Street Studios in New York.

Performances will run from August 26 to October 2, following the musical’s premiere at the New York Theater Workshop in 2019. A Broadway slated for March 2020 has been delayed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. An original Sony Masterworks Broadway cast off-Broadway recording is available to stream or download from all major digital service providers.

street sing is based on the 2016 hit independent film of the same title by John Carney, with a book by Enda Walsh, and music and lyrics by Gary Clark and Carney. The score includes original songs such as “The Riddle of the Model” and “Drive It Like You Stole It”, all performed by the ensemble’s young musician-performers, and references songs from bands like Depeche Mode, Duran Duran and The Soigner.

The story, set in Dublin in the early 80s, follows 18-year-old Conor and his classmates as they find an escape from their troubles by forming a band to impress Raphina, a mysterious girl who attracts the attention from Conor.
